An exciting new tourist trail for New Brighton from June 2017. The Trail is based on the local legend of The Black Rock Mermaid who was reported in an 18th Century Chapbook to have appeared to a local sailor and whose moonlight home is at the foot of Perch Rock Lighthouse

4 miles of dunes, grasslands and hay meadowsfrom the Derby Pool in New Brighton to Meols, featuring the Gunsite picnicarea, river Birket cycle track, wildflower meadow and great beaches. Ideal forwalking and birdwatching, particularly migrating species.

Constructed in 1827, the lighthouse is now disused but still remains an iconic part of the New Brighton landscape.
